Hola from Barcelona!

The husband has a few days off from hockey so we jumped on a plane and are enjoying the sights and sounds of Barcelona.

Barcelona has been a destination I have always dreamed of checking out and it sounded like the perfect last minute family friendly vacation. While not hot, the weather is warmer than Germany, the flight was under 3 hours, the food totally drool worthy and we can kick back and relax as a family.

We are pretty casual tourists when it comes to travel, especially now with a 1.5 year old.

This is how we roll…

Roam the streets taking in some of the touristy sights after breakfast, chase Sloane around while she runs free, a bit of shopping and eating some great Spanish food between naps and bedtime.

My favourite thing to do a couple times each day is hit up the Food Markets. They are unreal! We are staying a couple blocks away from Mercado de la Boqueria. I love wondering the aisles full of fresh produce, seafood, pasta, dried fruit, cheese stands, chocolate, meat, and so much more. It's heavenly!

Breaky day one was at the market, take a peek at what we had...

I died laughing but it was actually so good! Squid with a side of taters topped with EVOO, lemon juice and parsley.

Now we certainly don’t eat that in Canada.

I'm eating my weight {and the babe's} in fresh fruit.

We stop for a fresh juice every morning and usually fill up on some great snacks, tapas style, to take back to our room for a late dinner after Sloane heads to bed for the night.

We've had some great days.

I swear she likes us.

And yet, one of our sweetest moments was this….

Running around a market square with pigeons. Yes, pigeons.  Certainly worth the trip ;)

I guess it just goes to show that you never know where pure bliss and happiness might show up!

Sending lots of love from Barcelona and wishing you a great weekend!
